On his website, Maigurs indicated that first he wanted to make a couple of versions that were close to the original before offering his unique interpretation in the future. While the basic elements of the Ballerina are here, this is a more voluptuous design, with softer curves and more rounded lines. The grain is outstanding and the elaborately colored Amboyna Burl and Sapwood trim is quite beautiful. It would be very cool to own this “study” pipe, a standout in its own right, with what is sure to be the wilder interpretation that is to come.
