The hexagonal shank, ring, and stem on this piece is simply amazing. The paneling is spot on, and I love how it is emphasized by the increased width of the Boxwood ring and then again by continuing said paneling into the saddle of the stem. Awesome! The whole shape is about emphasized Geometry, but it is done so naturally, without sacrificing proportion or balance. This pipe is made from Strawberry wood, a close cousin of Briar that weighs about 20% less and takes one hell of a sandblast. Speaking of blasts, this pipe has it all- righteous, tightly spaced rings that wander around the bowl like some kind of a contour map while the rim displays a gnarly, pockmarked surface of end grain and birdseye. Definitely a home run from American artisan Bruce Weaver.
